Beach Living Isn't All It's Cracked Up to Be

When we moved out here to the beach I thought it was going to be all sun and sand and island time – boy, was I wrong! I wish things were slow paced and wonderful but there have been four, count them, FOUR hurricanes come through our town since we got here. We didn’t have a difficult time adjusting to being a bit off the grid for example, www.SATELLITESTARINTERNET.com was able to get us internet all the way out here and the trash people agreed to come do a bi-weekly pickup, too. The kids really liked the solitude but then the storms rolled in…before I knew it we were putting up shutters and heading inland to my mom’s once every two months! It was an unbelievable hassle and we’ve sustained some pretty significant damage to the house which wasn’t cheap to fix so if we had it to do all over again I think we may have decided not to build quite so close to the water. That’s just my opinion, though…
